Los Santos Area: Culture, Nature & Birdwatching
Los Santos Area: Culture, Nature & Birdwatching

Our office is in the metropolis of Costa Rica: Cartago. Besides the popular highlights of Costa Rica, we would like to share some of the lesser-known areas, which we truly recommend. Los Santos is very close to Cartago and an amazing paradise. Here are some reasons why you should visit this area:

Coffee production

The region is known for the narrow valleys and is surrounded by hills. The area is 1500 to 1700 meters above sea level! Did you know that (one of the) best coffees in the world are produced in Santos? You can go visit the coffee farms. We recommend the coffee produced in the Tarrazú. This coffee is a true pleasure for every coffee lover.

 Nature in Santos

The most visited region is Los Quetzales National Park, a nature area with unique beauty. It is a great place for birdwatchers and travelers who are looking for a less crowded national park in Costa Rica.

What else?

We included Santos already in some of our packages. You will get the chance to stay in the cloud forest of San Gerardo de Dota. At a high elevation in the Talamanca Mountain Range, this is the perfect location to spot hummingbirds, trogons, bellbirds, and most impressively, the resplendent quetzal.

For the adventure seekers, there are great hiking tracks. Off in the distance, you may hear the sound of two running waterfalls as the crystal-clear water flows into the river below, the cleanest river in all of Central America!

Coffee, birdwatching, hiking, and a unique landscape. What are you waiting for?

All the pictures are made by Vilma during her visits to Los Santos.

We would love to help to add this destination to your tour or package. It is possible to combine this area with Manuel Antonio which is a short driving distance from this area.
