This area is well known for practicing different water sports and spotting exotic wildlife at its spectacular rivers and beaches. For this reason, we believe you should have the opportunity to choose the activity for today. These are the best alternatives in the area:
a) Surf lessons: Surfing is a sport everybody should try; feeling the ocean breeze on your face while you “ride” the waves is a sensation that you will not soon forget. Expert guides will teach you the basics of this popular activity on the sand and once you are ready they will help you conquer the waves by yourself. As a side note, some ability is required for this sport but it is not too difficult to catch on. It is encouraging to think that many professional surfers started with a lesson like this when they were young.
b) Sea Kayaking: This activity takes place in the Marino Ballena National Park (Marine-Whale N.P.). As the name suggests, there are thousands of whales that swim close to this coast in search of warmer water for better conditions to give birth to their young. The main objective of this ocean trip is to practice snorkeling while also encountering many chances to see whales while you paddle. Your guide will let you know how to identify the whales from far away and how to safely get close to them. Whales are around this area from January to March and from July to September every year.
c) Tubing at Baru River: This is a fun and adventurous way to enjoy nature from a huge fresh water river. Baru River resides on high elevations and is surrounded by a dense rainforest which makes it possible to find many species of wildlife. The best way to explore this magnificent river is comfortably seated on a specially designed tube in which you are in direct contact with the water but also have the freedom to change direction and look around in the search for animals. Your guides will show you how easy it is to navigate the tubes on the water and give you safety recommendations to ensure that your tubing trip will be smooth sailing.
You will return to the hotel after the activity that you have chosen and you will have the rest of the day free to do what you like.
