You will begin your travels plundering deeper into nature as you transfer from San Jose to Tortuguero National Park via a shuttle that takes you past many banana plantations and through colorful, Carribean villages. At La Pavona Dock, you will load your things onto a specially designed riverboat that will take you to your hotel in Tortuguero. Sometimes referred to as “The Amazon of Costa Rica”, Tortuguero is home to an extensive assortment of wildlife and plants hidden deep within the jungle. Mid-morning, you will transfer to Cartago, the first capital of Costa Rica. The final stop will be at your lodge, located in the cloud forest of San Gerardo de Dota. At a high elevation in the Talamanca Mountain Range, this is the perfect location to spot hummingbirds, Trogons, bell birds, and most impressively, the Resplendent Quetzal. The morning will begin with the objective of chasing and trying to spot the Quetzals as they lead you on an adventure among the trails in the cloud forest with your guide.
