Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in San José, Costa Rica

After your flight, you will exit the plane and instantly feel the pure Costa Rican air; here your adventure begins. A representative will be waiting for you at the airport to accompany you during your private transfer to your hotel. You will be free to explore San Jose and experience the lively, cultural city. Enjoy dinner at your hotel. Overnight in San Jose. Dinner included.

Day 2Irazú Volcano

Absorb the beauty of the panoramic view of the Central Valley from the height of one of Central America’s tallest volcanoes, the Irazu Volcano. Still an active volcano today, this giant has not awakened since 1965. Easily navigate the trails to explore this area before you head down to experience and see the history of Cartago, the first capital of Costa Rica. You’ve seen volcanoes, experienced a city with a lot of history, and now you will end your day by driving toward your shelter in the small town of Pejivalle on the La Marta Rainforest Reserve; immediately you will feel immersed in the jungle on this 3750 acre reserved. Enjoy dinner tonight with the locals. Overnight in La Marta Rustic Shelter. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 3Rainforest Reserve

Set out with your guide to discover and explore the vast Rainforest Reserve. Discover many exotic species of wildlife, take in the sites of historical ruins, and lastly, jump in and enjoy the purity of two pristine rivers that are almost transparent since they are so clear. The mountainous terrain opposed with river valleys, with trails winding through rich forests of palms, trees, and epiphytes, this hike is sure to be challenging. Overnight in La Marta Rustic Shelter. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 4Cerro de La Muerte / San Gerardo de Dota

The mysteries and hidden beauty of the cloud forest will welcome you to your next destination, the Cerro de La Muerte Mountain Range. In the morning, enjoy how to make and process the drink that gives life to the sleepy, coffee at the Coopedota mill. After lunch, the group will arrive to Los Quetzales National Park and find their lodge. Before dinner, there is time to explore the trails around the lodge and admire ancient oaks and find some wildlife. Overnight in San Gerardo de Dota. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 5Marino-Ballena National Park

The morning will begin with the objective of chasing and trying to spot the Quetzals as they lead you on a adventure among the trails in the cloud forest with your guide. Later in the day, you will begin your descend down the mountain via a private transfer to the Marino-Ballena National Park; your lodge will be located on a 600 acres reserve engulfed by nature that has been conserved for many centuries. During your descend down the mountain, you will notice the increase in temperature as well as a new variety of plants and birds that prefer this warmer climate. The afternoon is free to enjoy the hotel and feel the fresh ocean breeze as you watch the sunset paint the sky. Overnight in Uvita Beach. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 6Your Choice!

Your destiny is in your control today as you decide how to spend this day. You have the option to explore the most biologically intense place on Earth in terms of biodiversity and swim in waterfalls in the Corcovado National Park or you may choose to unearth some treasures and enjoy the colorful reefs filled with life as you snorkel at the Cano Island. Overnight in Uvita Beach. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 7Free day at Uvita Beach

Today is free to explore the reserve on your own in search of finding new wildlife and plant species or to relax and enjoy the ocean breezes as you spend the day on the white sand beaches soaking up the sun and winding down from the adventure filled week. Overnight in Uvita Beach. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 8Return to San José

You will return to the fast-paced style of living in the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose. The day is free for you to explore the city one last time before your departure the following day. Overnight in San Jose. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 9Good bye Costa Rica!

It is not a “good-bye” but a “see you again” as you take your private transfer to Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) to travel back home and reunite with family and friends. Breakfast included.
